In a post on Australia’s Royal Commission into Institutional Response to Child Sexual Abuse, which is “holding public hearings to evaluate claims by survivors of child sexual abuse perpetrated at Catholic institutions,” Jack says
secular governments around the world may need to give some serious consideration of how best to protect their children from the Catholic church.
However, in Ontario, at least one Catholic school board is attempting to protect the children attending its schools from the Ontario Liberal government’s “controversial” sex-ed curriculum.
Trustee Anthony Danko has asked the Halton Catholic District School Board to delay implementing the controversial Liberal government’s sex-ed curriculum for a year.
Danko’s May 19 motion says Catholic school trustees have an “exclusive constitutional mandate” to adapt ministry of education curricula so that “it does not contradict Catholic teaching.”
Even worse, the HCDSB wants to protect all Ontario children:
HCDSB “believes if the material is harmful to Catholic children, then it is harmful to all children… and the Halton Catholic School Board stands in solidarity with all people of goodwill, from any cultural or faith community.”
No! Its time for “all people of goodwill, from any cultural or faith community” to protect their children from abuse because denying children age-appropriate sex-education is abuse. It is time for people, especially Catholics, to realize that the Ontario Liberal government does not have a reputation for abusing children; the Catholic church does.
As Jack points out
The news coming out of [Australia’s Royal Commission into Institutional Response to Child Sexual Abuse] so far is beyond appalling, and they are far from over.
If Catholic parents in Halton region want to continue to ignore the evidence that the Catholic church has a history of systemic mental, physical and sexual, abuse of children, they will support HCDSB motion “to delay implementing the controversial Liberal government’s sex-ed curriculum for a year.” Even if Catholic parents in Halton are so deaf, dumb and blind that they don’t realize they are actively supporting the abuse of children by sending them to Catholic schools and by allowing the HCDSB to adapt ministry of education curricula, so “it does not contradict Catholic teaching,” other parents must ignore the agitprop and hysteria of the HCDSB and allow their children to educated properly and safely.
I was under the HCDSB for all of my elementary and secondary school years.
I remember when they brought some speaker to scare and guilt is into abstinence, and I also remember when I was barred from a sex-ed class because the day before while discussing abortion and specifically the question of who (mother/father) decides, I said “the father because the father still does his entire job no matter what, but the mother not necessarily because of incubation and other technologies”. They see differing opinions, especially if base don reality, as a threat.
