[] Surrey’s recently installed LGBT rainbow crosswalk vandalized with white paint
It didn’t even last two weeks.
-
[] Legal fight over summer jobs attestation grows as religious, business groups file new challenges
The “this organization’s activities aren’t in opposition to the Charter” attestation freak-out continues. And still most of the organizations making challenges are organizations that aren’t even affected by it. These challenges are not about rights, they’re all about politics.
-
[] How Edmonton became a political battleground for queer students’ rights
Very nice, detailed look at the current flap in Alberta over gay-straight alliances. I’m inclined to say that Barbara Silva has it spot on: this whole “controversy” is yet another manufactured controversy calculated to undermine progressive ideals and institutions. Seems to be a theme this week.
-
[] Quebec weighs legal options as judge temporarily suspends face-covering law
Couillard isn’t even trying to defend this stupid law. Instead, he’s blaming everything on opposition parties. When you’re the party in power, and especially when you’ve got a majority, the shitty laws that your government passes are not the fault of other parties.
-
[] Doug Ford Fires Ontario’s 1st Chief Scientist Dr. Molly Shoichet
I would be shocked if anybody was actually shocked by this.
