Fifty six years ago, as I remember it reasonably clearly, there was a grade six classroom discussion where the young married male instructor politely deflected a discussion two female students were having that involved something or other to do with belief.

Both those girls grew up to be reasonably high achievers.

At the time, I was very interested in the teacher’s opinion. Looking back on this early stage in my learning, I can see the stultifying influence Christianity had on our public school education.

Things are not that much improved today. You don’t have to worry so much about preachy religious teachers. As we have witnessed, in open expression, religion usually is shown to be the rubbish it has always been, even in a grade six class.
