FreeThoughtBlogs vs Canadian Atheist

by | February 14, 2016

On February 12, PZ Myers announced that FreeThoughtBlogs is recruiting new bloggers:

We’ve been shaking things up a bit behind the scenes here at FtB. One of our enduring annoyances has been recruiting new bloggers — the way we set it up here (again, behind the scenes) was to appoint a committee and tell them to do all the work. Then, every once in a while, someone would write to me or someone else and ask how to be considered for FtB, and I’d blithely pass their name along to the committee. . . . So we’re trying something different. No committee. Instead, we have an email link, and you’ll write to us with your qualifications. It then gets passed into a private application channel, and we all have an opportunity to look you over and vote yay or nay.

Not to be outdone, Canadian Atheist invites you to join Canadian Atheist as a writer for the

independent [Canadian] blog made up of a collection of atheist/secular/freethought writers from across Canada. While we all come from different areas and backgrounds we all have one thing in common – we think the Canadian atheist movement is important.

Unlike Freethoughtblogs, Canadian Atheist makes no demands and doesn’t tell writers what they have to be for or against, and CA does not require its writers to be  “godless SJWs.” If you read the comments you will see that we are all for and against different things and at least one writer, Veronica, doesn’t know exactly what an SJW is.

Unlike FtB, CA doesn’t have a committee to do a “quarterly review of new applications” and you won’t have to wait until mid-March to be accepted.

If you would like to join Veronica, Joe, Corwin, Indi and Diana, please contact CA using the “Contact” form. Canadian Atheist does have a “Style Guide and Procedures” document, which advises writers about the mechanics of submitting a post, but it exists to guarantee a uniformity of style not a uniformity of opinions.

Canadian Atheist  is looking forward to hearing from you!

And Diana will write again. I hate that I’ve had to curtail things.

I look forward to whoever joins, unless by some cosmic accident, you manage to recruit PZ Myers himself. There are limits. :6

Do you have a goal? How about doubling? My gut is that there’s a lot to talk about in Canada, but it’s not making it out of municipalities and provinces to be heard across the country.

      “Do you have a goal?”

Yes, as many writers as possible from as many provinces as possible.

What do you mean by “doubling”?
