The science of Angels

I remember hearing this story a while back, but I don’t think I ever actually watched this video. It reminds me how even faced with an entirely rational explanation, people still grasp at the metaphorical. Nothing wrong of course with a little metaphor, its what great art is made of. But we must be careful, sometimes a metaphor is just a metaphor. Stay in school, kids.

And that reminded me about something a physics friend told me, when I, a non-physicist was trying to understand physics. He said beware of analogies, they might be helpful understanding something on a basic level, but if you don’t know the math, you’re just scratching the surface. Knowing the limits of an analogy is just as important as understanding what the analogy is saying.
