“Is Christianity in Decline?”

If it weren’t for the fact that Dr. Christopher Di Carlo was a guest on Zoomer Television’s June 15th roundtable discussion of the question “Is Christianity in Decline?” I would not have watched the video.

Conrad Black and Faith Goldy hosted the discussion which featured, according to Conrad Black, “a table full of religious leaders and observers”; at the same time as Black is omitting non-believers from his list,  Di Carlo’s face appears on the screen. The list of guests is available on the Zoomer website, but Dr. Di Carlo’s contribution, which starts at 23:00, is, in my biased opinion, the best: he was blunt, honest and uncompromising:

  1. I’ve been waiting for this. Thanks.

  2. Wow… I found the first minute intensely annoying for some reason. I wonder if I’ll make it.

  3. Dr. Di Carlo delivered the goods, and then some. He spoke with such righteous and firm contempt. You need people like that to go up against high-calibre blusterers like Conrad Black go. As full of crap as that would-be aristocrat jailbird is, I think he is extremely persuasive to a lot of people, which is why I use the term high-calibre blusterer.

  4. The “question of the day” seemed to be: “What’s with the delay in the totally justified annihilation of ISIS?” Nobody seemed to know.

Conrad’s very colorful depiction of the Church’s hierarchy was amusing.

The old mathematician’s foolish scientific musings about any God, but hopefully Jehovah, are good examples of the undead ruminations of old pious men.

Not much discussion about the extremely improbable and archeologically nonexistent ministry of Jesus. To answer Conrad’s open question about the new atheism, it is the stories inside of the gospels that engenders the ridicule and mockery. Science fiction speculations about Creator Gods are just fine.

  5. What a dreadful show. It was good Christopher was there, but they really kept him on a tight leash as Black delivered volley after insane volley against atheism with wild eyed zeal.

The whole thing looked like some sort of propaganda piece to me. I’m waiting for Conrad to get his own show like Pat Robertson’s 700 Club. He can keep that co-host and it would be perfect.

  6. I also like the end of the show with the interview with Lennox topped off with Conrad calling for us all to bomb Iran. It was 1% , religious-right, neo-Con delicious.
