“Regrets, I’ve Had a Few”

by | May 8, 2015

No, this post isn’t about atheism; it’s about “an environmental catastrophe.”

Unlike Frank Sinatra, who says in his 1969 song, “My Way,”

Regrets, I’ve had a few
But then again, too few to mention

John Sylvan has one big regret: inventing the Keurig coffee pod system.

Every year, people purchase billions of one-use K-Cups and the unrecyclable plastic pods end up in landfills. CBC News says,

According to a wildly popular ad campaign against the product earlier this year, there are so many discarded K-Cups that if you lined them up it would be enough to circle the earth more than 10 times — and that’s just from one year’s worth of coffee pods.

Egg Studios partnered with the Social Bean Gourmet Coffee Co to produce “the wildly popular ad campaign against the product.”

In 2014 the use of the K-Cup reached unparalleled levels. . . . The numbers continued to grow until the day of the invasion:

BTW: John Sylvan doesn’t own a Keurig coffee pod system.

I was addicted to the K-Cup.

Recently, I switched mostly to a french press and I’m happy I did. It’s really not a big deal.

However, I still have my Keurig around for when I need coffee in a pinch… like if I’m working from home and have a 5 minute window before the next meeting.

Naturally, I could just make a couple of cups worth in the morning. I’m weening myself off the cups.

    Mea Culpa.
