“The very existence of churches with their grandiose architecture and their hortatory Sunday sermons are in fact evidence of the inactivity of God in the world. If God’s love was real, it would be apparent. There would be no need for preachers, apologists or much of organized religion. It is because God’s absence is so grossly obvious that such monumental efforts must be mounted to persuade ourselves and others that despite his absence, he is present, despite his silence, he is speaking, despite his impotence, he is omnipotent, and despite his indifference, he loves. “
Her journey spans many years, takes place in many churches, has many flavours of faith, wishful thinking, rebellion, regret and acceptance. From the God that did not want to open the door after she forgot the key inside her apartment, to Jesus, the celestial lover, the theological and devotional voices that followed Carolyn from her young years to her adult life have lead her to understand that reason and a life without God can inspire more awe and real love for life and the world.

Congratulations to Carolyn! I was lucky enough to receive a copy and will be writing my impressions about it as soon as I finish the book. So far, I am impressed with its emotion and authenticity! She may not remain a “small” voice in our community after people have read this book.

All this infrastructure does point to the desire for crowd influence and management.
The entire history of Catholicism was constructed with monuments, cathedrals, schools, hospitals, prisons, artwork and graveyards. Millions of man-hours of minimum wages.
In spite of this millennial effort, only the sounds of silence.
