When Discrimination Against Atheists Means Death

Atheists in constitutional democracies have it pretty good. Yes, we still face discrimination and bigotry but thankfully, the secular values of a constitutional democracy protect us legally against discrimination. Think of what it is like to live in an absolute monarchy that relies on religious courts to judge its citizens by religious laws enforced by religious police! Saudi Arabia is such a country and this is where the below picture was taken – in Mecca! If caught with this simple phrase on paper, this person would surely face blasphemy charges which would subject him/her to torture and very likely execution by beheading.
