This is good news from the Royal Canadian Mint:
On March 24, 2014 , at the Greater Victoria Public Library, Canadian literary icon Alice Munro unveiled the Royal Canadian Mint’s new collector coin celebrating her tremendous accomplishment of receiving the 2013 Nobel Prize in Literature.
“The Royal Canadian Mint commemorates Canada’s culture, values and heritage and celebrating Alice Munro’s tremendous body of work and receipt of literature’s most prestigious international award is yet another notable chapter in our Corporation’s history,” said Ian E. Bennett, President and CEO of the Royal Canadian Mint. “This coin is a beautiful and meaningful keepsake for readers, writers and collectors alike.”
Yes, this is what the Royal Canadian Mint should be commemorating: Canada’s culture, values and heritage and celebrating Canada’s artists. It should not be commemorating a religious leader who does not represent Canada’s culture, heritage or its values.
