Atheist Music for a Friday

by | February 14, 2014

It’s the end of the week so I thought I’d go with something light. After I came across Greydon Square, who writes and performs hip hop songs with atheist themes and lyrics, I googled atheist musicians. Wikipedia has a list; I also found an interesting Catholic forum where someone asks if it’s okay to listen to Rush since the band has some atheist leaning songs. Many warn that it is bad to test one’s faith and a band like Rush should be avoided. 🙂

Finally, I think Steve Martin’s song, Atheists Don’t Have No Songs is very clever; be sure to click on the link to watch him and his band play live on the David Letterman show. Here are the lyrics; I’m glad atheists have rock & roll & we always make sure the “h” in “he” is lowercase:

[Narration]
You know, religious people have such beautiful music and art; And atheists really have nothing… Until now! A little tune called “Athiests Don’t Have No Songs”
